Position Summary
Crest Research and Development Institute (CRADI) is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join its team and support a diverse range of research activities both across Nigeria and internationally. This role is crucial to CRADI’s mission of fostering evidence-based solutions to tackle complex societal challenges, requiring a professional who can leverage advanced data management, analysis, and interpretation techniques to ensure that research outputs are not only insightful but also reliable and actionable. The Data Analyst will enhance CRADI’s research capabilities by managing and analyzing large, complex datasets gathered from a variety of sources, applying advanced statistical methods, developing predictive models, and creating impactful data visualizations that present complex insights in a clear and easily interpretable manner. The insights and recommendations generated will be essential in guiding strategic decision-making, shaping research outcomes, and influencing policy and practice across CRADI’s diverse projects. Collaboration will be a key aspect of the role, as the Data Analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders, including researchers, project managers, and field teams, as well as external stakeholders such as donors, partners, and government agencies to ensure data processes are streamlined, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. Additionally, the Data Analyst will be responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of data, ensuring that data management practices comply with industry standards and upholding the trust of CRADI’s partners and stakeholders. The role requires strong technical expertise in statistical software (such as R, Python, or SPSS), data visualization tools (like Tableau or Power BI), and excellent communication and problem-solving skills to distill complex data into actionable insights that have a tangible impact on CRADI’s research outcomes and broader societal goals.
Responsibilities
Program Responsibilities:
Data Management and Analysis:

Collect, clean, and preprocess raw data from multiple sources, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of datasets.

Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, anomalies, and patterns within datasets.

Conduct advanced statistical analyses, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and multivariate analysis.

Collaborate with the research team to develop robust data pipelines and automate routine analysis tasks for efficiency.
Data Visualization and Reporting:

Create compelling data visualizations such as dashboards, charts, and graphs using tools like Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or Python visualization libraries (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn).

Develop customized reports, summaries, and presentations to communicate key findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Design interactive dashboards to enable stakeholders to access and explore data insights independently.
Program Implementation and Compliance:

Partner with researchers and project managers to define analysis goals and ensure alignment with project objectives.

Provide technical guidance and training to team members on data collection methods, tools, and analytics best practices.

Serve as a point of contact for troubleshooting issues related to data systems and analytics processes.
Compliance and Ethics:

Ensure adherence to data privacy laws and ethical guidelines, such as GDPR or local data protection regulations.

Develop protocols for secure data sharing and handling, safeguarding sensitive information.
Continuous Learning and Innovation:

Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data science, analytics, and artificial intelligence.

Recommend and implement innovative tools and techniques to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities.
Training

Design training curricula on data analysis, visualization, and digital tools.

Develop and administer assessments to evaluate training effectiveness and identify improvement areas.

Facilitate remote and in-person training sessions.
-
Provide mentorship and ongoing technical support to build capacity among team members, clients, and partners.

Lead administration and management of CRADI’s training center.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Research, Mathematics, or a related field.

Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.

Strong understanding of statistical techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, hypothesis testing) and machine learning models.

Expertise in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn).

Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and derive actionable insights from large datasets.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effectively presenting data insights to diverse audiences.

High attention to detail and a strong quality-focused mindset.
Preferred:

at least 4 years’ experience working in a research-oriented organization..

Familiarity with survey and data collection platforms (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics, KoboToolbox).

Sound Knowledge of advanced statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata).

Understanding of research methodologies, including randomized control trials (RCTs) and quasi-experimental designs.
Required Languages
English (Fluency in Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba which is widely spoken across Nigeria would be an added advantage)
Travel
Must be willing and able to travel to local and difficult terrains across Nigeria and Beyond.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director of Admin will supervise the Data Analyst.
