Adapting Research Learnings To Programs

Providing solutions to sustainable grassroots development through interventions. Our development aid experts design and implement programs in a variety of areas to assist local communities in addressing complex issues and improving their quality of life. Our solutions enhance size, sustainability, and resilience by collaborating with other local partners and stakeholders. In addition, we do research in order to adapt as we implement and to discover novel solutions for both long-standing and new issues that face the communities we serve.

Building Community Resilience to Conflict

CRADI is helping donors, and development partners design and implement interventions that respond to and build the resilience of local communities to conflict and violence. We facilitate the recovery of communities in Fragile and Conflict-affected Settings (FCS), knowing that they are often plagued by economic, physical, psychosocial, and health concerns, amongst others. This we do through the implementation of protection related interventions, Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), humanitarian response, Income Generating Activities (IGAs) and health programming.

Youths Economic and Livelihood Opportunities

We design programs, conduct collaborative research, pilot, and develop new methodologies, and implement project activities. Our comprehensive, evidence-based economic and livelihood development programs help to develop the skills of local community members and create employment opportunities for women, youth, and disadvantaged populations. Our team applies a deep understanding of labor markets to deliver innovative technical assistance, consulting, and research tools that connect young people and employers in mutually beneficial ways.

Human Rights

CRADI is committed to creating safer spaces for the self-expression of all groups, especially marginalized groups like women, girls, children, young people, and the elderly. Our human rights programming allows us to:

  • Listen to and learn from marginalized groups through research because we strongly believe in the principle of “do nothing for me without me”,
  • Provide support systems (relief, medical, legal, and psychosocial) and safe spaces for victims of abuse to seek redress and heal,
  • Train the next generation to uphold the rights of others through sensitization,
  • Advocate for policies and their implementation to protect human rights.

Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D)

Through Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D) we work to bridge the “digital divide” of communities that do not have the access to communication technologies, infrastructures and or know-how. We continually promote the development and deployment of easily accessible and usable technological platforms that can enhance development. This becomes achievable through our two-pronged approach of infrastructure development and human capacity development. We thus support technological companies with data needs assessment findings of communities on technology to allow them to develop the right hardware and software that will allow human – machine – human interaction. Because for us, the aim of communication is not only to achieve a flexible human-machine interaction but to ensure a seamless human-human interaction, where the technology is not in itself a distraction to the relations and communication.

Education

Towards development, we work to develop human capital to contribute to the achievement and sustainability of the same development. We know that education (both formal and informal) plays an important role in providing knowledge and skills that will eventually have the power to effect change in the environments in which we work. Through the vehicle of education, we thus create change agents in all facets of life, including but not limited to civic responsibilities, human rights protection, cultural diversity, and the acknowledgment of the global citizen. We also work to close the gaps in gender inequality in education and the community through girl-child education.

Climate Change

We work to reduce carbon emissions, promote sustainable waste management practices, and create awareness among the public towards ensuring more informed and environmentally conscious communities. Our work in this area includes climate smart policy advocacy, where we seek to promote sustainable practices and mass sensitization where we raise awareness of the impact of climate change and waste management on the environment, towards transforming public attitudes and encouraging community led actions to reclaim, preserve and protect the environment.
