Job Summary

Crest Research and Development Institute CRADI is recruiting research assistants to support data collection for a study that seeks to assess the significant challenges women-owned small and medium businesses (WSMBs) face in accessing finance, accessing markets and operating within the entrepreneurship ecosystem across three countries (Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda). The position will report to the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Manager Uganda office who is the research coordinator.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

The Research assistant will be responsible for the following:

    • Conduct in-person and virtual Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and draft report for each

    • Ensure required tools, consent forms are completed.

    • Compile findings in a format required by the research team. 

    • Participate in briefings to provide progress updates. 

    • Recognize and give account of problems in obtaining data and provide useful feedback from field research activities.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Education: BA/BSc. /M.Sc. in Monitoring and Evaluation or another related field.

Experience: 2 years experience in a similar role preferably with a research or development organization. 

Skills and Knowledge:

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Required Languages

English (Fluency in Swahili, Zulu or Luganda which is widely spoken across the region would be an added advantage)

Travel

The candidate must be resident in the chosen country amongst the 3 countries of the assignment and be willing and able to travel to local and difficult terrains within the country.
